Des Collins, Senior Partner of Collins Solicitors has been interviewed for a feature about the Corby steelworks case shown on BBC Look East – West on Thursday 19th September.

The piece discussed Collins Solicitors’ work advising 120 ex-steelworkers and their families in Corby and the preparation for a major legal case to seek redress for health problems suffered by workers as a direct result of years spent exposed to significant amounts of dust, heavy metals and other chemicals.

Des Collins successfully led an 11-year fight on behalf of the families of 19 children born with deformities after their mothers were exposed to toxic waste exposed from the former Corby steelworks as the site was being reclaimed. The families’ battle was upheld in a landmark High Court ruling that found Corby Borough Council to have been negligent in its management of waste in the 1980s and 1990s. The case came to an end in 2010.

Collins Solicitors is also advising numerous ex-steelworkers who worked at the Ravenscraig steelworks in Scotland who have suffered from significant health problems, and their families.
