Airlines Face High Court DVT Battle - 30/10/02
CLAIMANTS' OPENING SPEECH
THE VICTIMS' CASE
28 airlines will face claims from over 50 DVT victims in a landmark case at the High Court commencing Tuesday 5th November.
Lawyers from Watford based Collins Solicitors, experts in transport litigation leading this class action for the victims, said that the case has taken over two years to prepare and if successful would have worldwide repercussions for the industry.
Senior Partner, Des Collins, said:-
"Safety must always be the priority and there has been little evidence of this here. We believe these claims to be the tip of the iceberg. If the industry was aware as clearly it should have been of the risks facing passengers then there can be no justification for this appalling silence over recent years."
