Families in Corby who believe toxic waste has caused their children to be born with deformed limbs have won a legal victory.

A High Court judge has granted them access to council papers which they hope will prove that the old steelworks site near their homes was to blame.

Connor McIntyre is one of eight children affected. He was born without fingers on one hand and with a toe missing on each foot.

The families believe harmful chemicals left at the site when it was cleared by Corby Borough Council are to blame.

A spokesman for Corby Borough Council said the legal department is studying the claims and a decision will be made shortly.
